Obituary: Kenneth “Ken” Graham Crossno

Kenneth “Ken” Graham Crossno, 74, of Kinston, NC, passed away unexpectedly on September 3, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of love, laughter, and stories his family and friends will carry forever.

The youngest of three sons, Ken was born on December 30, 1951, in Warsaw, North Carolina to a Methodist minister and a mother he adored. As a young boy, he moved to Enfield, NC, which he considered his hometown. He described his growing up there as a magical childhood and formed many friendships that lasted a lifetime. He later graduated from Atlantic Christian College and built a career first in banking and later in social services.

He was the beloved husband of 49 years to Carol Dobey Crossno, a devoted father to his two daughters, and a cherished “Paw Paw” to his grandchildren. Family was the center of his world, and he took deep pride and joy in watching his daughters and grandchildren grow. He cherished his faithful companion, his dog Boo, and found joy in The Beatles, Duke basketball, classic horror films, and the spirit of Halloween.

Those who knew Ken will remember his quick wit, sharp humor, and unmatched way with words — heartfelt, hilarious, and uniquely Ken. He had a gift for making people laugh, making them think, and leaving them with a story worth remembering.

Ken is survived by his wife, Carol Crossno of Kinston, NC; daughters Candace Friedman (David Friedman) of Winston-Salem, NC, and Lauren Watkins (Brandon Landreth) of Clayton, NC; grandchildren Grace, Colin, Sullivan, and Piper; brother John Crossno (Kimla Crossno); sister-in-law Barbie Ferguson (Geoff Ferguson); as well as cousins, nieces, and nephews who he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Reverend Leon and Katherine Crossno, and his brother, Bobby Crossno.

Ken’s laughter, wit, and unmistakable personality will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, September 12, with visitation at 1 PM and a service at 2 PM, both at Howard-Carter Funeral Home, 1608 W Vernon Avenue, Kinston, NC 28504 with Pastor Allen Stocks officiating.
