Greene County commissioners to meet Tuesday after Labor Day holiday
SNOW HILL - The Greene County Board of Commissioners will hold its regular meeting Tuesday, Sept. 8, because county offices are closed Monday for Labor Day.
The meeting is scheduled for 10 a.m. at the Greene County Operations Center.
Commissioners are scheduled to hold a public hearing on a proposed $458,915 community transportation grant application for Greene County Transportation. The proposed fiscal year 2028 application includes funding for administration, operating expenses and capital expenses, with a stated local share of $92,777.
The board also will consider accepting a $10,000 grant from Meals on Wheels America for the Greene County Senior Center. According to county materials, the proposed budget amendment would use $8,000 for meal costs and $2,000 for supplies. The funding would provide additional meals, breakfasts and shelf-stable emergency meal boxes.
Commissioners are expected to consider appointing Chad Bradicich to the Greene County Planning Board to replace retiring Chairman Leslie Mooring. County materials say Bradicich is associated with the Arba Fire Department and Wheat Swamp Christian Church boards.
The agenda also includes a request to allocate $7,200 in restricted ABC funds to the Greene County Sheriff's Office for alcohol-law enforcement and public safety.
Commissioners will consider awarding the county's 2027 insurance broker services contract to Mark III. County materials provided in the meeting packet do not list the proposed contract price, competing firms or scoring information.
The board also is scheduled to consider routine tax matters, including late property tax relief requests for two applicants who qualify for elderly or disabled exclusions, as well as tax releases and refunds involving vehicle location, military exemptions, sold vehicles and private waste haulers.
