Kinston/Lenoir Community Chorus to Present Handel’s Messiah on December 7, 2026

The Kinston/Lenoir Community Chorus invites the community to experience the beauty and inspiration of George Frideric Handel’s Messiah on Monday, December 7, 2026, at 7:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church, 2101 N. Herritage St., Kinston.

For nearly three decades, this annual presentation of Messiah has been a cherished Christmas tradition in the Kinston and Lenoir County community. Each year, singers and musicians from across Eastern North Carolina come together to present Handel’s timeless masterpiece and share its message of hope, faith, and redemption.

The 2026 performance will be accompanied by the North Carolina Baroque Orchestra, whose professional musicians specialize in historically informed performances of Baroque music on period instruments. The combination of chorus, orchestra, and soloists brings a distinctive character and richness to Handel’s work.

More than a concert, the annual Messiah performance is a community celebration that welcomes people from many backgrounds and denominations. Through Handel’s music and the biblical texts that inspired it, audiences are invited to reflect on the Christmas story and the enduring message of hope found throughout the work.

The Kinston/Lenoir Community Chorus began presenting Messiah in 1998 at LCC. What began as a local musical tradition has grown to include singers from Lenoir County and surrounding communities, making the performance a true regional celebration of music and faith.

The concert is free and open to the public. Because the performance depends entirely on community support, donations are gratefully accepted to help make this annual tradition possible.
