A celebration of life service will be held Sunday, August 30, 2026, at 4 P.M. at Bethel Free Will Baptist Church by Rev. Chris Truett and her son-in-law, Dr. Mike Creekmore. The graveside service will be conducted Monday, August 31, 2026, at 11 A.M. in the Flatfield Cemetery, 5089 Pauls Path Rd, LaGrange, NC.

Margaret was born in Kinston, North Carolina, on March 9, 1938, to the late Speros Maroules and Martha Braxton Maroules. She was a member of Bethel Free Will Baptist Church.

Margaret was a faithful servant of the Lord. Of the many jobs and hobbies Margaret had, she loved being an x-ray technician serving others, and she retired from Caswell Development Center in Kinston in 2000. She enjoyed attending church, crocheting, dancing, cooking, and playing bingo.

Margaret possessed a love for life and the Lord that is rare. She always kept going, no matter the obstacle in her way. Her heart was full of kindness and she was an example of Christ’s love to all. Margaret was a wonderful mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend who always had a word of encouragement for everyone she met. The memory of her kindness and love for Jesus will be cherished by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sisters, Angela Maroules Byrd, Juanita Maroules Harris, Eula Nichols Huffman, and brothers, Jimmy Maroules, Christopher Maroules, Edward Maroules, and Thomas Maroules.

She is survived by a daughter, Kim Creekmore (Mike); son, John Thorpe (Jay); sister, Vicky Maroules Collins; brother, Billy Maroules; grandchildren, Courtney Creekmore and Will Creekmore (Shannon); many nieces and nephews; and great grandchildren, Liam and Layla Creekmore.

The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the wonderful staff at Vickery Parke Assisted Living in Central, South Carolina, and Testa Family Hospice House for the compassionate care shown to Margaret.
