Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office Announces Promotions

The Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce the promotions of four dedicated members of our agency. Each has demonstrated a strong commitment to public service, leadership, and the citizens of Lenoir County throughout their careers.

Major Michael Williams – Major of Detention

Major Michael Williams has been promoted to Major of Detention following many years of dedicated service and leadership with the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office.

Williams joined the agency in January 2008 as a Deputy with prior law enforcement experience. He was promoted to Detective in January 2011, Sergeant in July 2013, and Lieutenant in August 2014.

In January 2016, Williams served as a Reserve Deputy before returning as a full-time Deputy in April 2018 to assist the agency during a staffing shortage. He moved into the Detective position in September 2018.

Williams was promoted to Lieutenant in December 2022 and Captain in March 2024. He now assumes the position of Major of Detention.

Captain Dwight Currington

Captain Dwight Currington has been promoted to Captain after more than 15 years of service with the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office.

Currington began his career with the agency in February 2011 as a Detention Officer before being promoted to Deputy in July 2011. He later served as a Detective beginning in August 2017, Sergeant beginning in December 2022, and Lieutenant beginning in March 2024.

His experience in both detention and law enforcement has provided him with a strong foundation for his new leadership responsibilities.

Lieutenant Eric Carlyle

Lieutenant Eric Carlyle has been promoted to Lieutenant after joining the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office in August 2019 as a Deputy.

Carlyle was promoted to Sergeant in September 2023 and has continued to demonstrate dedication, leadership, and commitment to the agency and the community.

Sergeant Nytasha Bryson

Sergeant Nytasha Bryson has been promoted to Sergeant after joining the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office in August 2025 as a Deputy.

Bryson brought more than 10 years of prior law enforcement experience from other agencies to the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office. Her experience and dedication have prepared her to take on this new leadership role.

The Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office congratulates Major Michael Williams, Captain Dwight Currington, Lieutenant Eric Carlyle, and Sergeant Nytasha Bryson on their well-deserved promotions.
