Kinston officer injured in head-on crash involving impaired driver

A Kinston Police Department officer was involved in a head-on crash Sunday night at the intersection of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and J.P. Harrison Boulevard after an impaired driver traveling in the wrong lane struck the officer’s vehicle, according to police.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to the scene and is handling the investigation because a Kinston officer was involved.

Police said both the officer and the other driver are expected to make a full recovery.
