Greene County Intermediate School Continues Investment in Student Leadership with Third Annual EmpowerHER™ Program
SNOW HILL — Greene County Intermediate School (GCIS) is proud to announce the return of the EmpowerHER™ SEL Leadership Experience, a signature leadership initiative developed by KLC Global, LLC, for the third consecutive year. Through a continued partnership with licensed psychotherapist, speaker, and emotional wellness strategist Coach Kiesha L. Cousar (Founder & CEO of KLC Global, LLC), GCIS remains dedicated to providing innovative, life-changing opportunities that prepare today’s learners to become tomorrow’s leaders. Customized specifically for rising fourth and fifth-grade girls at GCIS, the EmpowerHER™ program reflects the school’s commitment to supporting the whole child, balancing academic development with social-emotional strength, self-discovery, and practical leadership skills.
In this session, GCIS students will focus on the EmpowerHER™ RAM Framework, designed to directly parallel Greene County Schools' overarching RAM Code (Be Responsible, Be Respectful, Be Positive, and Be Prepared). The EmpowerHER™ RAM Framework guides students to:
Regulate Emotion
Affirm Identity
Model Leadership
By equipping students with practical emotional wellness and self-regulation strategies, the EmpowerHER™ RAM Framework directly supports their ability to consistently live out the district's RAM Code. Beyond the walls of GCIS, these tangible skills lay a crucial foundation that will support students during their upcoming transition to middle school and throughout their future academic careers.
"At GCIS, we recognize that every student enters our doors with a unique voice, perspective, and potential," said Dr. Uvonda Willis, Principal of Greene County Intermediate School. "Bringing Coach Kiesha back for a third year reinforces our goal of empowering our young girls to embrace their strengths, build resilience, and step confidently into leadership roles both inside and outside the classroom."
Through interactive activities, team challenges, guided reflection, and hands-on projects, participating GCIS students will learn that true leadership starts from within. To support their journey beyond the classroom, each student will receive an exclusive EmpowerHER™ commemorative T-shirt, leadership materials, reflection tools, a "Lead From Within" wristband, and take-home resources. These home resources serve as a valuable tool to enhance parent and family engagement, fostering meaningful conversations at home and strengthening the connection between school and family life.
"Leadership is more than a title; it's the courage to know who you are, the confidence to use your voice, and the character to positively influence others," shared Coach Kiesha L. Cousar. "When we intentionally invest in girls today, we're shaping confident women who will lead tomorrow."
