Obituary: Dana Williams King

Dana Williams King cherished wife and sister, devoted mother and loving Nana, went to live eternally with her Lord and Savoir, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at the age of 69. Dana had a personal relationship with Jesus and was a faithful servant. Her life was marked by her deep commitment to Jesus and her family, as well as her generosity of spirit and her servant’s heart.

Dana was a Kinston native and was always committed to serving this community. This started in 1976 when she was selected as Miss Kinston with a talent of a self-trained ventriloquist and served as Miss Bicentennial the same year. She served her community well and made many ventriloquist appearances with “Aunt Eva” through the years. She worked with the Miss Neuse pageant doing makeup for the contestants for many years; she served on the local American Red Cross Board and was passionate about helping others by encouraging people to donate blood; she loved serving the community as the Director of the Board of Elections for 22 years and made lasting and close friendships during her time there. She was a long time member of Tanglewood Church of God where she sang in the choir, was very active in her Sunday School class, Powerhouse, and had the privilege to serve many people in the church.

Dana had a passion for Duke University Basketball, which brought her much enjoyment over the years, and she enjoyed working in her yard after retirement.

She leaves behind a family and many friends who loved her dearly and will miss her presence but will carry on the example she set through her faith, resilience and love, and a community that was enriched by her presence.

Dana was preceded in death by her parents, Sherrill and Eva Williams and her son, Dustin King.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Pat King; son, Daniel King; grandchildren, Kelsey King and Bladen King; sister, Lina W. Gibbs; brother, Davis Williams and wife Kathy; sister-in-law, Karen Renn and husband Mike; and many lifelong friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2026 at Garner Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. with a graveside service immediately following at Pinelawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, Dana is requesting that memorial donations be made to, College Park Church, P.O. Box 11097, Huntsville, AL, 35814, paypal.cpcogpp@gmail.com.

Dana was welcomed into the arms of Jesus as He spoke “Welcome home my good and faithful servant”. Dana would want you to know Jesus as your Savior today.
