Camber Foundation Names Town of Maysville Manager Schumata Brown to Inaugural Advisory Council
Jones County native brings municipal governance and community development expertise to Eastern North Carolina foundation
RALEIGH, N.C. (April 29, 2026) — Camber Foundation, a philanthropic organization, has announced the formation of an Advisory Council to offer guidance and insight to strengthen its mission as it continues its work across Eastern North Carolina.
The organization named Schumata Brown of Jones County as one of its inaugural Advisory Council members.
Brown serves as Town Manager for the Town of Maysville in Jones County. A Maysville native, his work reflects a day-to-day understanding of the resource challenges and opportunities facing rural Eastern North Carolina communities, precisely the kind of perspective the Advisory Council is designed to elevate.
Brown joins four other Eastern North Carolina leaders on the Camber Foundation Advisory Council: Todd Brantley, senior advisor with Armstrong McGuire in Wayne County; Velva Jenkins, President of Jenkins Consulting, LLC in Brunswick County; Dr. Kim Crickmore Osborne with KCO Strategies, LLC in Pitt County; and Dr. Alice Schenall, senior advisor with the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO) in Edgecombe County.
"Schumata understands what community investment looks like from the inside," said Leslie Ann Jackson, Camber Foundation president and CEO. "That perspective is invaluable as we work to direct resources where they can have the most meaningful impact."
The Advisory Council provides Camber Foundation with insight and expertise to bolster the Foundation’s philanthropic impact in the communities it serves. Through the Council, Camber seeks to uplift the unique experiences and valuable perspectives of the people and places of Eastern North Carolina and engage its members to inspire, inform, and influence the Foundation in fulfilling its mission throughout the region.
