Obituary: Nell Dail Patrick

Nell Dail Patrick, of Kinston, passed away on May 27, 2026, peacefully at her home.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, 11:00 AM, at Westminster United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends following the service.

A native of Lenoir County, Nell was born to Clifton and Eva Dudley Dail. She was a devoted member of Westminster United Methodist Church, where she cherished fellowship with her many friends. Nell proudly served as the first female City Clerk of Kinston from August 27, 1953, until her retirement on August 31, 1985. She also dedicated much of her time to serving others through volunteer work, including many years at Mary’s Soup Kitchen every Tuesday and as a volunteer with the Board of Elections.

In addition to her parents, Nell is preceded in death by her husband, Edward Grady Patrick; her brother, Edward Dail; and her sister, Helen Bach.

Nell is survived by her son, Jeffery D. Patrick (Teresa); special niece, Kim Tyndall (Phil); one sister, Evelyn Genova; two brothers, Cecil Dail and Charles Dail; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mary’s Soup Kitchen, 110 N Independence St, Kinston, NC 28501, in Nell’s memory.
