Obituary: Nancy Carroll Howard Gladson

Nancy Carroll Howard Gladson, 92, of Kinston, departed from her earthly home on Tuesday, May 26, 2026. She is preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Donald Gladson and her parents, Cecil Howard and Essie Mae Edwards; daughter, Yvonne G. Sanderson and husband Donnie; son, Johnnie Donald Gladson, Jr.; grandchild, Michael Brandon Gladson and brothers, Dr. W.A. Howard and Bobby Howard.

Nancy loved the Lord with all her heart. She was a lifelong member of Neuse Baptist Church. For many years, she taught the adult Sunday School Class. Her church was her family, and she was committed to them in every way.

Left to cherish her memory is her son, Howard Carroll Gladson and wife Terri of Greenville; sister, Bette H. Smith and husband Albert of Emerald Isle; brother, Cecil Franklin Howard, Jr. and wife Ruth of Panama City Beach; daughter in law, Becky Wilkins of Mountain City, TN.; sister in law, Zeljka Howard of San Luis Obispo, California, grandchildren, Johnnie Donald Gladson III of La Grange; Lindsey Gladson Barnhardt of Wake Forest; Lisa Michelle Sanderson of Whiteville, and Ryan Gladson of Raleigh; along with numerous great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Howard-Carter Funeral Home, with Pastor Greg Kincaid officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow immediately after the service at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Kinston.

The family would like to extend a very heartfelt Thank You to The Heritage Elite community and staff. Words are inadequate to express the gratitude and appreciation that is felt for the love and compassion shown to Mrs. Nancy.
