Lenoir, Greene, and Wayne Counties Celebrate Recovery Court Month
9th Judicial District Honors Community, Progress, and Hope

Lenoir, Greene, and Wayne Counties proudly celebrate Recovery Court Month during the month of May, joining communities nationwide in recognizing the life-changing impact of recovery courts. This annual observance highlights the strength of the community and the hope that grows when people and resources come together to support individuals on their recovery journeys.

Recovery courts succeed because the community stands firmly behind participants—offering encouragement, accountability, treatment and the belief that every person deserves a chance to rebuild. Recovery is never a solitary journey. It is supported by local organizations, treatment partners, families, mentors, and volunteers who show up with compassion and patience every day. Their dedication forms a network of care that transforms lives and strengthens the broader community.

“Our Recovery Court Program reminds us that people can and do change when given structure, support, and a community that believes in their potential,” said Beth Heath, retired Recovery Court Judge for the 9th Judicial District. “Recovery Court Month gives us a chance to honor that hard work and the partnerships that make it possible.”

Recovery Court Month also shines a light on the courage of participants who work tirelessly to overcome challenges and pursue healthier, more stable futures. Their determination serves as a powerful reminder that recovery is a collective achievement made possible by connection, support, and shared commitment.

As the district observes Recovery Court Month, leaders encourage the community to celebrate progress made and reaffirm commitment to building a supportive environment where healing is accessible, successes are lifted up, and hope remains within reach.
