Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office Conducts Drug Investigation in La Grange; Methamphetamine Seized

On Monday, April 27, 2026, deputies with B-Shift of the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office responded to complaints of suspected drug activity in the residential area of JC’s Village Road in La Grange.

Upon arrival, patrol deputies along with a detective assigned to the Street Crime and Rapid Response (SCARR) Team made contact with individuals at the residence. During the investigation, deputies developed probable cause indicating illegal narcotics activity on the property and subsequently obtained a search warrant.

As a result of the search, deputies seized methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia from individuals on the property.

Donald Frederick Rouse, 65, of La Grange, was arrested and charged with:

• Felony Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance

Rouse was placed in the Lenoir County Jail under no bond pursuant to the Pretrial Integrity Act due to being out on bond for previous charges at the time of his arrest.

Mary Mazingo Butler, 69, of La Grange, was issued a criminal citation for:

• Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
