Jones commissioners to hear public health, social services and fire district items Tuesday
The Jones County Board of Commissioners is scheduled to meet Tuesday, April 7, with an agenda that includes updates on public health, social services, recreation planning, tax matters and a proposed fire protection service district.
The meeting is set for 7 p.m. at the Jones County Agricultural Building, 110 Market St. in Trenton.
During the presentations portion of the meeting, commissioners are expected to recognize employee years of service and hear a message from NCACC President Wallace Nelson. The board is also scheduled to receive presentations on integrated care services, a social work update, the DSS Family Mentor and Peer Support Program, the CFPT annual report, PARTF grant application information and a site plan update, additional AA 117 public health infrastructure funding, and a reentry partnership proposal.
The consent agenda includes approval of minutes, FEMA lot lease renewals, appointments to the Juvenile Crime Prevention Council and Recreation Committee, a line worker appreciation item, solid waste contract agreements and budget amendments numbered 26 through 32.
In new business, commissioners are set to consider an NC Railroad Company microgrant agreement, hear the tax collections report, appoint and convene the 2026 Board of Equalization and Review, and receive an update on the Hofmann Forest fire district. The board is also scheduled to discuss a transfer station scale and software upgrade, a probation office lease renewal and a resolution of intent to establish a fire protection service district.
The agenda also includes manager, attorney and commissioner comments, a second public comment period, and a closed session for attorney-client privilege before adjournment.
