LCPS hosts legislative breakfast with local, state leaders
Lenoir County Public Schools welcomed local and state leaders Monday morning for its Legislative Breakfast, an event focused on district progress, priorities and continued support for students and staff.
Superintendent Brent Williams highlighted growth across the district, including rising graduation rates, academic gains and recognition in STEM and digital learning.
Lenoir County Board of Commissioners Chair Linda Rouse Sutton, who previously served on the Board of Education, spoke about the working relationship between county commissioners and the school system.
State lawmakers, including Rep. Chris Humphrey and Sen. Bob Brinson, discussed ongoing budget conversations and the importance of supporting educators through competitive pay and classroom resources.
Board of Education Chair W.D. Anderson emphasized the need to invest in staff, maintain safe learning environments and expand opportunities for students.
“When you have the highest quality staff who are continuously evaluating how to better educate our children, and people in place who are willing to help, you can get so much done,” board member John Wiggins said.
District officials said the breakfast underscored the importance of collaboration among educators, lawmakers and community partners.
