KPD Identifies Suspect in Carver Courts Shooting
On Wednesday, April 1, 2026, officers with the Kinston Police Department’s C-Squad responded to the Carver Courts area in reference to a report of shots fired.
Upon arrival, officers located a victim who reported that a subject known as “Deon,” fired approximately three to four shots at him as he was leaving the area.
During the course of the investigation, detectives reviewed video footage, interviewed witnesses, and identified a vehicle that had been struck by gunfire. Through these investigative efforts, 34-year-old Allen Deon Sutton was identified as the suspect.
Detectives obtained arrest warrants for Sutton for the following charges:
• Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill (AWDWIK)
• Possession of a Firearm by a Felon
• Injury to Personal Property (2 counts)
• Discharging a Firearm Within City Limits
On April 8, 2026 Sutton was taken into custody and placed in the Lenoir County jail.
