Celebrating MARSOC Anniversary
It was awe-inspiring to meet 103-year-old Marine Veteran Corporal Leonard B. Turner at the MARSOC celebration. I had a wonderful conversation with him about his experiences
and insights. He was sharp as a tack!
He is our nation’s oldest living Marine Raider. Enlisting at 19, Corporal Turner served in multiple theatres during WWII, including being in the first waves in the Battle of Guam and Okinawa. He has been active in his career post-military service, encouraging countless young Marines to be fine young men and women and to contribute to civic life after service. Thank you for your service, Corporal Turner!
Participating in the Shepherd’s Ball
What a beautiful story of resilience and perseverance. Deepest congratulations to Pastor Carmon in celebration of his ministry to preaching the Gospel and to helping those in need.
Taking his lessons learned in prison and turning a challenging experience into one where he spreads God’s words of determination and perseverance.
Pastor Carmon is helping so many youths who lack a father figure in their lives understand the joy and mentorship of male leadership. Congratulations Pastor!
Hosting 2026 Congressional Art Competition Reception
I was honored to host a reception celebrating the winners and participants of North Carolina’s Third District Congressional Art Competition.
This annual nationwide competition gives high school students the opportunity to showcase their artistic talents, with each district’s winning artwork displayed in the Cannon Tunnel at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C.
This year’s theme, “Patriotism; America Turns 250,” inspired thoughtful and creative pieces that reflect both our nation’s history and its future. I am proud to recognize these talented young artists and their outstanding work.
Presenting Holly Ridge with $1.2 million in Community Project Funding
I was proud to present a $1.2 million check to the Town of Holly Ridge, federal funding secured through my Community Project Funding request, to support the renovation of the town’s community center.
This investment will help create a revitalized space for residents to gather, connect, and strengthen their community. I was grateful to present this check to Mayor Pete Parniak and cannot wait to see firsthand the impact this project will have on Holly Ridge.
I remain committed to delivering results for Eastern North Carolina and supporting projects that enhance the quality of life for our communities.
Tour of Boys and Girls Club Jacksonville
I had a great visit touring the Boys & Girls Club in Jacksonville alongside CEO Dawn Mitchell Blalock and Councilman Mike Yaniero.
The Boys & Girls Club is making a real difference in the lives of young people by providing a safe and supportive environment with trained, caring staff, dedicated mentors, and strong community backing. Their programs are designed to empower youth to excel in school and lead healthy, productive lives. It is truly remarkable to see how many lives they touch and what
excellent results they obtain. An unbelievable 98% graduation rate amongst their students!
I’m grateful for the work being done to invest in the next generation and strengthen our communities across Eastern North Carolina.

Team Murphy was honored to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony for a new accessible playground and Fitness Court in Trenton, North Carolina. The event brought together local leaders, educators, community partners, and families from across Jones County to celebrate these exciting new additions.
