Kinston Police Department: Operation Wintergreen
On Tuesday, March 3, 2026, the Kinston Police Department concluded a three-month investigation targeting the illegal distribution of marijuana and illegal THC products being sold throughout the City of Kinston by various vape shops and convenience stores.
The operation culminated in the execution of 34 search warrants. Of those, 26 were served at retail store locations, and eight were served at the residences of store owners and employees associated with the investigation.
This operation was initiated in response to numerous citizen complaints regarding the illegal sale of marijuana and THC products, including allegations of sales to minors. The Kinston Police Department remains steadfast and unwavering in its commitment to addressing crime within our community, particularly offenses that endanger our most vulnerable and easily influenced citizens, especially children.
The Kinston Police Department extends its sincere appreciation to our local, state, and federal partners for their assistance and collaboration in this operation. Partnering agencies include the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Internal Revenue Service (IRS), North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement (ALE), the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office (Special Response Team and Narcotics Unit), and the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office.
Additional information regarding arrests, drug seizure totals, and asset forfeiture amounts will be released at a later date as the investigation progresses.
