Traffic Stop Leads to High-Speed Pursuit and Arrest
Around midnight on February 6, 2026, Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office deputies assigned to C Shift conducted a vehicle stop on NC 258 North near Daly Waldrop Road involving a gray Nissan Altima. The vehicle was stopped for a registration violation.
During the stop, the vehicle fled from deputies, initiating a high-speed pursuit. The pursuit ended when the suspect vehicle wrecked and struck a light pole at the intersection of Banks School Road and Parrott Dickerson Road.
The driver, identified as Marcus Deshawn Hooker of Snow Hill, was arrested at the scene. Hooker was charged with the following offenses:
• Felony Flee to Elude with a Motor Vehicle
• Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Schedule VI
• Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Schedule II
• Maintain Vehicle for Controlled Substances
• Driving While License Revoked
• Driving/Allowing a Motor Vehicle with No Registration
• Reckless Driving
Further investigation revealed Hooker was also wanted as an absconder from probation/parole out of Greene County for a felony probation violation related to possession of a Schedule II controlled substance.
Hooker received a combined secured bond of $275,000 and is currently being housed in the Lenoir County Jail.
