Obituary: Dorothy "Dot" Lane Crisp Bennett
Dorothy “Dot” Lane Crisp Bennett of Kinston, NC, passed away on February 2, 2026. She was 93 years old.
Services will be held on Saturday, February 7th, at Spilman Memorial Baptist Church, with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. The service will follow at 12:00 p.m., with graveside services immediately following at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
Dot was born on November 25, 1932, to William and Susan Crisp in Edgecomb County. She married Archie Bennett in 1952 and had 73 years with him. During that time, she became the proud mother of three boys, three grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and three great, great grandchildren. Being the mother that she was, she made sure everyone was together to celebrate those special times, like birthdays, holidays, or Sunday afternoons.
Dot was a long-time member of Spilman Memorial Baptist Church and last year, received a Legacy Award for 56 years. When you met Dot, you quickly knew she had a servant’s heart and knew her faith in the Lord was strong and precious. Whether it was working at Big Star, Piggly Wiggly, doing children’s Sunday school, personal care or being a deacon, you knew she led by example.
Dot is survived by her husband Archie Bennett, sons, Artty (Donna), Brooks (Barbara deceased.), and Biff (Jennifer), grandchildren, Regan, Crystal, and William, her great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Jean Hamm (Edgar deceased.).
She is preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Spencer (William), Virginia Woodruff (Phillip), Francis Quann (Henry), brothers, George Crisp (Pauline), Lester Crisp (Delia), Wilbur Crisp (Genevieve), and daughter-in-law, Barbara Bennett; sisters-in-law, Jesse Lou White (James), Hazelle Bissette (Sherman), Joyce Baker (Sidney), and brother-in-law Edgar Hamm.
