Obituary: Laura B. Wade
Laura B. Wade
Laura Bynum Wade, age 84, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Thursday, February 19, 2026, at her home.
A native of Greene County, Laura was born on July 15, 1941, to the late Ralph Tyre Beaman and Callie Sugg Bynum. Reared in a hardworking farm family just outside of Snow Hill, she carried the values of her upbringing throughout her entire life. Following marriage to her late husband, Clyde, the couple resided briefly in the Shine Community before establishing their permanent home on the family farm south of Snow Hill.
Laura was a woman of remarkable work ethic and capability. For many years, she worked side-by-side with Clyde, managing the office and keeping the books for both Bynum and Wade Station and Clyde Wade Oil Company. In later years, she brought her warmth and professionalism to the former Britthaven Nursing Home. There, she served as a kind and welcoming face to patients and visitors alike; she was known for never pausing to help anyone in need, offering a steady hand and a compassionate heart to all who crossed her path.
Laura’s greatest joy was found in her roles as a wife, mother, and grandmother. She relished every occasion that brought her family together around the table, especially during the busy seasons of canning and freezing vegetables from the large family garden. A lady of profound and enduring faith, Laura was a longtime, dedicated member of Jerusalem Methodist Church. She served her congregation in numerous ministries and as a musician for many years.
In her final year, the example of partnership set by Laura and Clyde was mirrored by her children, who worked together tirelessly to ensure she received the best care possible, fulfilling her heartfelt wish to remain in her home.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Clyde Hill Wade; an infant daughter, Elizabeth Ann Wade; and brothers, Max Hilton Bynum, Ralph Gordon Bynum and Ashby Ben Bynum.
She is survived by her children, Hilton Wade and wife Tammy of Snow Hill, Darryl Wade and wife Paula of Snow Hill, and Angel Wade Webster and husband Eddie of Wake Forest; grandchildren, Joshua Wade, Summer Wade, and Jonathan Wade and his fiancé Lauren, all of Snow Hill, Elizabeth Kenney and husband Bailey of Columbia, SC, and Caleb Webster of Wake Forest.
Funeral Services will be held 11 AM Saturday, February 21st, at the Chapel of Taylor-Tyson Funeral Service with the Reverend Al Sullivan officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home and other times at Mrs. Wade’s residence.
Interment will be held privately at the Hill Family Cemetery located on the family farm.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are encouraged to Jerusalem Methodist Church, 3568 Hwy 13 S, Snow Hill, NC 28580, or to the Bible Broadcasting Network (BBN), PO Box 7300, Charlotte, NC 28241.
