From Kinston High to Hollywood: Local Native Robert Hill Wins His First Daytime Emmy Award
A piece of eastern North Carolina took center stage in Los Angeles, California, as Grifton native and Kinston High School graduate Robert “Rob” Hill won his very first Daytime Emmy Award. Hill, a producer for Byron Allen Media Group, took home the prestigious honor for his stellar work on Justice for the People with Judge Milian. For television viewers who regularly tune into hit syndicated court shows like Judge Mathis, Judge Mablean, and Judge Ross, a familiar name has been guiding the screen all along with Rob Hill’s creative hand shaping the production and anchoring the closing credits.
Long before his name graced Hollywood ballots, Hill was a creative child in Grifton, bringing stories to life by making movies with his action figures and discovering a natural talent for descriptive writing. He turned that childhood passion into a profession at North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro North Carolina, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mass Communication. He began his professional career in broadcast journalism at WITN in Washington, NC. Robert Hill is the son of the late Richard L. Hill and Jean-Chapman Hill of Grifton, North Carolina.
Rob made the leap of faith to Los Angeles in 2013 to chase his ultimate dream of becoming a television producer.
Backed by a relentless work ethic and unyielding faith in God, Hill’s journey is a powerful testament to perseverance. For anyone holding onto a big dream, his milestone achievement serves as a beautiful reminder of Isaiah 60:22: “When the time is right, I, the Lord will make it happen.
Grifton and Kinston couldn’t, be prouder to see one of their own reach the pinnacle of television success.
