Obituary: Robert Morris Goodman

Robert Morris Goodman “Mr. Biddie”, 88, passed away on Friday, October 3, 2026.

A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2026, 11 AM, at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Hookerton, NC. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at 1 PM, at Westview Cemetery, in Kinston, NC. The family encourages anybody who would like to join at the cemetery to come.

Robert was born in Lenoir County on December 13, 1937, to Rodeny and Lula Mae Morris Goodman. Robert was a graduate of Grainger High School and took courses in Mid-South Radio Electronics. He was the owner of Robert Goodman Feed, Seed, and Supply Store on Heritage Street in the 70s, and was known as “Mr. Biddie” because he sold little biddies at Easter. He and his brother owned farmland here in Lenoir County that ultimately was sold to Sanderson Farms. He was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, for many years, in Hookerton, NC.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Shirley Goodman; son, Michael Scott Goodman; and a brother, Rodney Goodman, Jr.

Robert is survived by his daughter, Tammy Goodman Howard and husband Donald; sister-in-law, Cathy Goodman; niece and nephew, Laura Blake and John Goodman; and two great nephews.

The family would like to send sincere gratitude to Robert’s caregivers with Gentiva and Cardinal Hospice, including, Joanne Smith, Teresa Williams, and Francine Williams.
