Holloway cheerleaders give back with donations to homeless shelter

The Holloway Vikings cheerleaders put a lesson in community service into action, donating more than 100 rolls of paper towels and more than 100 rolls of bathroom tissue to the Friends of the Homeless Shelter.

Thirty-one cheerleaders participated in the team’s first giving-back event, according to information shared by Barbara Sutton. Coaches, parents and community members supported the collection, helping the team surpass its original goal of 50 rolls of each item.

Coach T, Tamerica Edmondson Cobb, and assistant coaches Sirrisa Simmons and Amanda Agnew wanted the project to teach the cheerleaders the importance of helping others and supporting the community where they live.

The effort introduced the young athletes to a lesson that reaches beyond cheerleading: Even everyday necessities can make a difference for neighbors in need.

“My heart is so proud,” Cobb wrote in a Facebook post celebrating the donations.

The team’s September 2025 newsletter outlined the service project, with collections scheduled from Sept. 4 through Sept. 29 and a presentation planned for Oct. 1. It encouraged families to contribute bathroom tissue and paper towels while emphasizing kindness, compassion and care for others.

Sutton said the coaches hope to help the cheerleaders understand the power of giving back at an early age. Although this was their first event of its kind, the team plans to hold more community service events in the future.
