Obituary: Keith Manning

Keith Manning

December 2, 1955 – September 30, 2026

La Grange- Keith Edward Manning, 70, was graciously received into the arms of his Savior in the early morning hours of Wednesday, September 30, 2026. Keith was born in Broome County, New York, to the late Duane and Bettie Manning on December 2, 1955. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Kenneth Folmsbee.

Working as a truck driver, Keith traveled the country, driving for transport companies as well as operating his own hauling business. With the mind of an engineer, he loved figuring out what made things work. If something didn’t work, he enjoyed the challenge even more, figuring out what was wrong and how to make it work again. The open road brought him great joy, whether behind the wheel of a truck or riding his motorcycle, often with his wife, Bonnie, or his friend, David, by his side.

Keith was known for his generous spirit and his willingness to help anyone in need. After settling in the area, Keith and Bonnie joined White Oak Grove OFWB Church, where he became an active part of the church family. He served as a deacon, sang in the choir, participated in the Laymen’s League, and faithfully attended Bible study.

That same willingness to serve extended into the community through the Bucklesberry Ruritan Club. Keith was always ready to lend a hand, including opening the building for parties and rentals and making sure everything was clean, prepared, and ready for the next guests.

Friendly and talkative, Keith made friends easily. He had a knack for striking up a conversation with just about anyone and could quickly find something they had in common. Keith found much of life’s joy in the people he met and the relationships he made along the way.

A memorial service to honor Keith’s life will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 6, 2026 at White Oak Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church with Pastor Bob Smith officiating.

Keith is survived by his wife of fifty years, Bonnie Manning; siblings, Dennis Manning and wife Pat, Cathie Flanagan and husband Tim, and Diane Mason; aunt Carol Merritt; cousin Beth Merritt; sister-in-law Kathy Brochowicx and husband Mike; his faithful dogs Sadie Mae and Willow; long-time friend and riding partner, David Nipple; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Online condolences may be expressed at www.rousefh.com. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions to White Oak Grove OFWB Church, c/o David Dawson, 5376 Mays Store Road, La Grange, NC 28551. Arrangements are entrusted to Rouse Funeral Home, La Grange.
