Town of La Grange declares State of Emergency, enacts curfew ahead of significant winter storm

𝗟𝗮 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲, 𝗡𝗖 —On behalf of the Town of La Grange and Mayor Bobby Wooten, this notice formally advises that the Town of La Grange has declared a State of Emergency, effective 7:00 a.m. Friday, January 30, 2026, in response to a significant winter storm forecasted to impact eastern North Carolina. This State of Emergency shall remain in effect until modified or rescinded.

Based on the latest information from the National Weather Service and emergency management partners, the La Grange area is expected to experience substantial snowfall, hazardous road conditions, strong winds, and prolonged freezing temperatures, creating dangerous travel conditions and potential impacts to critical infrastructure and essential services.

Given the anticipated severity, timing, and duration of this storm, the Mayor exercised his authority under North Carolina General Statute Chapter 166A and the Town of La Grange Code of Ordinances to issue a Declaration of a State of Emergency.
