Council to hear rezoning request for Towerhill Road property
A rezoning request for a property at 519 Towerhill Road will go before the Kinston City Council during a public hearing Tuesday.
The request seeks to rezone a 0.13-acre parcel from industrial zoning to RA-5 residential office zoning. The application was submitted by Kevin Faison on behalf of Transitional Support Services. The property currently contains a single-family residence.
Planning staff reported that the rezoning is consistent with the city’s comprehensive land use plan, which calls for mixed-use development in the area. The Planning Board recommended approval at its December meeting.
If approved, the rezoning would allow residential and office uses compatible with surrounding neighborhoods. Adjacent property owners within 200 feet were notified of the request.
City Council is required to determine whether the rezoning is consistent with the comprehensive plan before taking action.
