Two candidates withdraw from commissioner races in Snow Hill and Pink Hill
Two local residents who had filed to run for commissioner seats have withdrawn from their races, though both names will still appear on the ballot.
In Snow Hill (Greene County), Steve Heath announced that although he asked the Greene County Board of Elections to remove his name from the ballot for Snow Hill Town Commissioner, the ballots had already been printed.
“Although I appreciate all that had planned to vote for me, [please] choose from the other candidates,” Heath wrote in a public statement. “I just don’t feel this is the right time for me to sit on the Board of Commissioners.”
Heath said the decision came after prayer and careful thought. He added that he may consider running again in the future or serving in another capacity, such as on a committee.
In Pink Hill (Lenoir County), Robin King confirmed to Neuse News that she has also decided not to pursue a seat on the Town of Pink Hill Board of Commissioners.
”After talking with my family, I decided against it,” King said. “I appreciate you reaching out, but I won’t be pursuing the seat.”
With ballots already finalized, both Heath and King’s names will remain available for voters to select in the upcoming municipal elections, but each has publicly withdrawn support for their own candidacy.
