Kinston florist founder Jewell Rider to celebrate 100th birthday

A beloved Kinston resident and local business icon is marking a major milestone this week.

Jewell Rider, founder of Rider Florist, will celebrate her 100th birthday on Friday, Oct. 3.

Born in Lenoir County in 1925, Rider spent her life serving the community through her family business, which became a staple for generations of customers. Her legacy of creativity and care continues to bloom in Kinston.

Family and friends will host a celebration Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. at King’s Restaurant Banquet Room. The community is invited to stop in and wish her well.
