LCC Small Business Center Launches ENC Regional Roundtable for Nonprofits
By: Megan Wade
The Lenoir Community College Small Business Center hosted the launch of the new ENC Regional Roundtable for Nonprofits today at the Kinston-Lenoir County Public Library, bringing together nonprofit leaders from Lenoir, Greene, and Jones counties for a conversation on collaboration, growth, and community impact.
The roundtable was designed to connect nonprofit executives and board members while addressing the challenges they face in today’s environment, including rising community needs, declines in giving, scarcity of resources, and decreases in volunteerism.
“We all agree on one thing – the value of our nonprofits and their potential to impact economic development in our community,” said Lee Albritton, Director of the LCC Small Business Center. “When you get people together and start developing trust, great things can happen.”
The event featured guest speaker Cameron Cochran, Executive Director of Wilson Forward, who shared insights on the importance of collaboration. “I deeply believe that our work happens in community and it happens when we work together,” Cochran said. “The question is: how do we create a space where we’re working together so that we’re stronger together?”
Following the keynote, attendees participated in moderated small group discussions over lunch, exploring the challenges their organizations face, the support they need, and opportunities for future training. One moderator summed up the purpose of the gathering: “We’re going to get you hooked up with the right resources, that’s why we’re here today.”
The ENC Regional Roundtable is a collaborative effort led by the LCC Small Business Center in partnership with the Lenoir County Chamber of Commerce, Lenoir-Greene United Way, Neuse Regional Library, and UNC Health Lenoir. Together, these organizations aim to strengthen local nonprofits, build stronger connections, and provide training to help organizations succeed.
To continue building momentum, the Small Business Center will host a two-part series on the Fundamentals of a Grant Proposal on October 8 and November 12.
