North Carolina Central University 2025 Student Sendoff
The spirit of Eagle Pride soared high on August 7, 2025, as the North Carolina Central University (NCCU) Alumni hosted a heartfelt sendoff celebration for ten local students preparing to begin their academic journeys at the historic university. The event, held at the Kinston Community Center at 6:00 p.m., brought together students, their families, and community members to honor the future Eagles.
Judge Sonya Davis delivered an inspiring and motivational keynote address, encouraging the students to embrace the opportunities ahead and to carry themselves with confidence, resilience, and integrity.
This year’s honorees are: Aziah Abron, Cherish T. Arrington, Amayzen Garner, Zi’Yonna Jenkins, Nakya Jones, Amiya Strayhorn, Aniya Sumpter, Malachi Washington, Azyah White and Phrazier Williams. The students are graduates of Kinston High School, North Lenoir High School, and Lenoir County Early College High School.
North Carolina Central University, a historically Black university located in Durham, North Carolina, was founded in 1910 by Dr. James E. Shepard.
