Man arrested, gun and drugs seized during traffic stop

On July 12, 2025, Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office B-Shift deputies conducted a traffic stop on Hwy 258 North after spotting a vehicle with a handwritten license plate and equipment violations.

The driver, Michael E. Hicks, 46, was found to have a suspended license and an outstanding warrant. Deputies from B-Shift searched the vehicle and located a revolver, cocaine, and drug paraphernalia. Hicks, a convicted felon, was arrested and taken into custody.

New charges include:

Possession of Firearm by Felon

PWIMSD Schedule II

Maintaining a Vehicle for Controlled Substance

Carrying a Concealed Gun

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

He was also served with outstanding warrants for:

PWIMSD MDA/MDMA

PWIMSD Schedule I

Possession of Cocaine

Simple Possession of Schedule VI

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Hicks is being held without bond under the Pretrial Integrity Act for the new charges and received a $50,000 bond for the outstanding charges.

Sheriff Jackie Rogers said, “The proactive work of our deputies continues to remove dangerous individuals and illegal drugs from our community.”
