Salary: $45,000 - $50,000 Annually

 

Occupational Extension Coordinator – La Grange and Greene County Centers

 

This position functions to develop and deliver comprehensive occupational courses and program offerings. In addition to course and program development, the Occupational Extension Coordinator – La Grange and Greene County Centers ensures the delivery of quality learning experiences, facilitates the learning process, advises students, and interacts with community/industry members and the public to determine emerging occupational extension training needs. The Occupational Extension Coordinator reports to the Associate Dean of Greene County Centers.

Qualifications

·         A bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution is required; a master's degree is preferred 

·         A minimum of three years of experience in the education field is required

·         Experience in managing and or developing educational programs for North Carolina community colleges is preferred

Working Conditions

·         Office environment 

·         Infrequently lifting and carrying items up to 15 pounds 

·         Infrequently bending and twisting at the waist 

·         Evening and weekend work hours 

·         Frequently sitting at a desk or workstation using a computer display, keyboard, mouse, and telephone 

·         Infrequently traveling between buildings on campus, between campuses, and to off-campus sites

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

The duties of the Occupational Extension Coordinator - LaGrange and Greene County Centers include, but are not limited to: 

·         Perform personnel management functions including recruiting, interviewing, and recommending the appointment of instructional staff (adjunct instructors) to the Associate Dean of Greene County Centers

·         Provide appropriate adjunct instructor orientation and submit all hiring documents and verification of credentials for all adjunct instructors 

·         Assist adjunct faculty in course planning, instructional delivery, and classroom management 

·         Prepare a master schedule of course offerings each semester that meets the needs of the program area and the students 

·         Assign teaching schedules for adjunct instructors 

·         Supervise and evaluate adjunct faculty and the operation of all courses, including class visitations, in accordance with policy

·         Coordinate course offerings for the Greene County Center, including the Workforce Development Center and La Grange Center, as needed 

·         Identify and recommend professional development needs of the adjunct instructors 

·         Resolve student grievances with instructors as needed

·         Facilitate the communication of division and/or college information to adjunct instructors via meetings, emails, etc. 

·         Facilitate the selection and ordering of textbooks 

·         Review, evaluate, and assess programs and courses periodically 

·         Ensure each program and/or course is in full compliance with the requirements for accreditation, certification, and other standards as stipulated by the North Carolina Community College System 

·         Coordinate the requisition of resources and services, including equipment, supplies, facilities, and other materials required for the effective delivery of instruction 

·         Develop and distribute a course outline according to established procedures, providing appropriate information to students concerning course expectations and evaluative criteria 

·         Prepare and submit instructional records, reports, grades, and all other required documents in a timely, efficient manner, meeting all deadlines, assuring accuracy, correctness, and completeness of all data 

·         Serve on and actively contribute to college committees as needed

·         Participate in divisional and institutional meetings and activities 

·         Maintain proper communication and supportive relationships at all times with all departments and divisions of the College

·         Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
