NCDOT: Temporary closure for Lenoir County bridge

NCDOT: Temporary closure for Lenoir County bridge

Contractors for the N.C. Department of Transportation will temporarily close Airport Road over Briery Run next week at a box culvert.

Starting the morning of June 9, crews from S. T. Wooten Corporation will begin a culvert to bridge replacement project, with the new bridge expected to open by Aug. 15, weather permitting.

Motorists traveling north towards Airport Road are encouraged to avoid the closure by taking Herritage Street to Queen Street to Academy Heights Road.

Those traveling south towards Airport Road can be detoured from Academy Heights Road to Queens Street to Herritage Street.

For real-time travel information, visit DriveNC.gov or follow NCDOT on social media.
