Obituary: Clara Jean Bradshaw Smith
Clara Jean Bradshaw Smith, 91, passed away June 16, 2025, surrounded by her family at Kitty Askins. She was born on November 26, 1933, in Wayne County, to the late Thurman and Bessie Bradshaw.
Family was of the utmost importance to Clara. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly. She would always tell them how proud she was of them.
Clara was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Kinston.
Camping and traveling to the mountains were things that she enjoyed. She also loved to play bridge with her friends. Knitting, putting puzzles together, and reading Danielle Steele books were also hobbies that she took delight in.
Her reputation as a baker was outstanding. She loved to bake cakes, cookies, and candies for her family and friends.
Christmas was her favorite holiday and time of the year. Clara was a collector of Hallmark Christmas ornaments and nutcrackers. You could visit her home during this season and experience Christmas in every room.
She is preceded in death by her parents; Thurman and Bessie Pope Bradshaw, husband, William “Bill Smith”, sisters; Ann Williams and Peggy Colton.
Clara is survived by her sons; Wayne Smith (Tina), and Brian Smith (Debbie), grandchildren; Tyler Smith (Kara), Phillip Smith (Melania), Chad Smith (Audrey), Danielle Smith (Jason), great-grandchildren; Harrison, Jordyn, Jared, Payton, Jayden, and Eva, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A service of remembrance will be held on June 26, 2025, at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Kinston.
