LCSO welcomes new K9 to team

The Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office is pleased to welcome a new member to its team. K9 “Fuse” and his handler, Dep. Ackery Harrelson, have started the six-week K9 handler’s course at Southern Police Canine Inc. in Nash County.

K9 Fuse is a Dutch Shepherd who is nearly a year old. He will be certified as a full-service patrol canine. During the six-week course, both Dep. Harrelson and Fuse will learn and be certified in narcotics detection, handler protection, criminal apprehension, tracking and evidence searches.

Obtaining Fuse was made possible by a generous donation from C-Phase Services, a Lenoir County-based electrical utilities service contractor. C-Phase President Gary Whaley stated that he and his team wanted to give back to benefit the community.

Lenoir County Sheriff Jackie Rogers and the LCSO thanks Mr. Whaley and his C-Phase family for making this addition to our team possible.

“We look forward to Fuse completing his training so he can begin working to keep Lenoir County safe,” Sheriff Rogers said.
