Key Votes
Senate Budget Resolution
House Republicans are unified in moving forward a budget reconciliation package that codifies President Trump’s agenda while addressing runaway spending. The Senate’s framework does not do enough to rein in our structural deficits and snowballing debt. However, by concurring with the Senate on budget reconciliation instructions, we can begin the process of turning our vision into reality. As a member of the Ways and Means Committee, I have worked tirelessly, especially over the last six months, in preparation for the work ahead. I am committed to building an economy that uplifts all Americans, preserving tax cuts, and ensuring the financial stability of our great country.
SAVE Act
Free and fair elections are fundamental to American democracy; however, some local jurisdictions have allowed noncitizens to vote in their elections.
Not only does allowing noncitizens to vote disenfranchise Americans, but it also invites direct foreign interference in our elections. As a member of the House Administration Committee, I have examined this issue closely, and the evidence is clear - noncitizen voting occurs at levels that can impact elections.
Unfortunately, last Congress, Chuck Schumer and Senate Democrats blocked the SAVE Act. I proudly voted YES to require proof of citizenship to register to vote for federal elections and to clean up our voter rolls.

No Rogue Rulings Act
Politically motivated judicial actions have no place in America. Judges should not engage in partisanship.
Recently, in response to the Trump Administration's deportation of Venezuelan illegal immigrants, including gang members, U.S. District Court Judge James Boasberg ordered the planes to turn around in midair and return to the United States.
I voted YES for the No Rogue Rulings Act to stop activist federal judges who have weaponized nationwide injunctions to thwart President Trump.
Ways and Means Committee Hearing with U.S. Trade Ambassador Greer
The House Ways and Means Committee held a hearing with United States Trade Ambassador Jamieson Greer to discuss the Trump Administration’s trade priorities.
Unlike what we have seen from previous administrations, American businesses and their workers are finally being prioritized. Our goals are simple: secure our supply chains from our greatest adversaries and restore a level playing field with our trade partners.
Addressing China’s unfair trade practices and reducing our dependence on the Chinese Communist Party is one of my biggest concerns. Earlier this year, I introduced the End China’s De Minimis Abuse Act to prevent China from evading tariffs. During the hearing, I was pleased to hear Ambassador Greer discuss President Trump’s attention to addressing areas of vulnerability.

House Administration Election Subcommittee Hearing on Securing American Elections
The House Administration Subcommittee on Elections is committed to ensuring our states carry out safe and secure elections. It was great to learn from various Secretaries of State about their successes in administering the 2024 election.
As a member of this committee, I have dedicated a great deal of time to studying recent elections to better understand the challenges our states face. We must equip them with the tools necessary to maintain election integrity, accommodate greater participation, and tabulate results quickly.

Ways and Means Health Subcommittee Hearing on Lowering Costs for Patients
Patients deserve affordable, safe medications. The Ways and Means Health Subcommittee held a hearing examining roadblocks to new biosimilar drugs. PBMs (Pharmacy Benefit Managers) are effectively forcing patients to take more expensive medicines so they can make profits for their insurance company.
These highly similar versions of FDA-approved medications are effective in treating life-threatening diseases and help lower costs for patients struggling to make ends meet.
During the hearing, I brought up my Ensuring Pathways to Innovation Cures (EPIC) Act, which aims to fix the Inflation Reduction Act’s small molecule “pill penalty” to ensure continued R&D investments into small molecule medicines.
American innovation leads the world in breakthroughs and life-saving advancements towards eradicating disease and cancer. Whether it is a biosimilar or small molecule medicine, we must ensure that patients have access to as many affordable, high-quality care options as possible.

Meeting with RevGuard
Burdensome medical debt is crushing American patients.
In 2020, the bipartisan No Surprises Act was signed into law to put an end to surprise medical billing once and for all. Unfortunately, its implementation has been rife with unnecessary issues, leaving patients to suffer the consequences.
I spoke with RevGuard about how they are helping fight insurance companies to pay for the care that patients need. We must reinforce penalties for insurance companies that do not uphold their end of the bargain. The medical insurance industry is killing patients by driving providers out of business.
Meeting with the American Society of Clinical Oncology
R&D investments are critical to expanding treatment options for patients, which is why I introduced the EPIC Act, so physicians, like those at the American Society of Clinical Oncology can continue helping patients in need.
I am immensely grateful for the hope they bring to those affected by cancer.

Meeting the NC Beer and Wine Wholesalers Association
In the U.S. alone, the alcoholic beverage industry sustains over 4 million jobs and generates almost $70 billion in annual tax revenue.
It was great speaking with the NC Beer and Wine Wholesalers Association about how our tax code can help Main Street businesses and the local economies they support thrive.
Meeting with ACORE
I support commonsense policies that promote energy growth and innovation while keeping our environment protected.
I am proud to represent a district that welcomes millions of visitors every year to see its beautiful beaches and wildlife. We must protect Eastern North Carolina’s beauty for future generations to enjoy through conservative, intuitive approaches.
Thank you to the American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE) for stopping by my office to discuss solutions for meeting our country's increasing energy demands.
Meeting with the American College of Surgeons
As a practicing urologist, I understand the challenges American physicians are facing. Practice burden, burnout, and cuts to Medicare reimbursements are forcing doctors into early retirement or to close their private practices.
Thank you to the American College of Surgeons for stopping by to discuss how Congress can help improve medicine in our country.
