Lenoir County to hold public hearing on economic incentive for Project Rehab

The Lenoir County Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing Monday, Nov. 17, at 4 p.m. to consider granting an economic development incentive to a company identified as Project Rehab.

The meeting will take place in the Commissioners’ Chambers on the second floor of the Lenoir County Administration Building, located at 101 N. Queen St. in Kinston.

The proposed incentive totals about $31,343 and is based on the company’s capital investment and job creation in the county. The final amount may vary depending on the company’s actual investment.

According to county officials, companies approved for incentives must first meet performance targets and pay property taxes before receiving any reimbursement. The value of property tax revenue generated from the project is expected to exceed the total incentive payment.

Questions about the proposed agreement can be directed to Lenoir County Economic Development Director Trey Cash at 252-663-0871.
