The following restaurant inspections were conducted by the Lenoir County Health Department:
Thee Coffeehouse

Observations:
Sticker residue or left over stickers present on clean pans/dishes.
Deep, dark gash in cutting board at prep lifttop unit.
One door reach in cooler on front line not holding temperature.
Lovicks
320 N Herritage Street, Kinston

Observations:
Employees seen prepping food without hat or hairnet.
Dishes do not need to be stacked wet.
Cup dispenser lid at fountain drink machine was missing.
Grates on bottom of refrigerators need to be in place.
Mops being stored in can wash with head above the handle. Needs to be sotred with head below the handle.

Lighting in walk in cooler and freezer measuring around 2-5.5 foot candles of light. Still not required >10 foot candles of light.
Bojangles

Observations:
Need written procedures for employees to follow when responding to vomiting or diarrheal events.
Cup of coffee seen stored directly above chicken breading/prep area upon initial walk through during inspection.
Two empty containers of orange juice seen stored on top of single service on shelving across from employee break area.
Food in cold holding not being held at 41F.
Bucket of sanitizer stored above chicken prep/breading area.
Two wet wiping cloths seen on prep areas out of buckets of sanitizer.
Biscuit bowl stored against the wall at prep sink, clean dishes stored on greasy shelving above chicken prep/breading area.
Repair lid on top of prep cooler at sandwich/biscuit area that is in poor repair.
Repair pull out cooler drawers under flat top cooler that fall when they are opened.
Repair doors on biscuit prep cooler that do not make a good seal when they are closed.
Basket strainer contained frayed wires.
Wires can break off and become physical hazards.
Lid on prep cooler needs to be cleaned. Shelving in walk in cooler needs to be cleaned.
Clean inside of reach in freezer at chicken breading area to remove accumulated food debris.
Floor cleaning needed where water damage has occurred, specifically at chicken breading area/hand-washing sink.
Clean wall behind chicken breading area where grease has accumulated on shelving.
General floor and wall cleaning needed throughout facility.
Replace/repair missing floor drain covers, specifically at back prep sink and in front on grills.
Floor tiles broken in this area as well.
Kings Restaurant
405 E New Bern Road, Kinston

Observations:
Provide paper towels or approved alternative for hand drying at each hand sink.
Clean dishes observed with food residue, splatter, and old date marking stickers.
Many soiled items observed in kitchen.
Build up observed in ice machine in hallway and on deli meat slicer.
Date marked needed on some foods.
Observed live roaches in kitchen and flies throughout.
Observed employee wearing watch.
Styrofoam cup being used for scoop in meringue mix is not an approved scooping method.
Shelves are rusted in two door continental unit. Equipment missing front doors and plates/coverings, so grease is building up inside equipment.
Can opener visibly soiled and needs additional cleaning.
Cutting boards in BBQ Pit heavily marked with deep grooves.
Additional cleaning needed on shelving units, outside/inside refrigerators, floor of walk in coolers, wire racks, clean dishes table, plate rack, dish racks, plate carts, etc.
Leak present at 2-comp sink in dish room.
Provide a covered waste bin in female restrooms.
Several hand-wash sinks visibly soiled, especially around handles.
Ceiling tiles have damage, and holes present on ceiling in storage room.
Floors, walls, and ceilings, need additional cleaning due to build up of dust, grease, flour, etc. Backsplash at plate prep counter is heavily soiled. Bacterial growth still present on ceiling in storage room.
