Chris Humphrey: November Legislative Update
Dear Neighbor,
I hope this message finds you and your family doing well. It’s been a full month here in Raleigh and throughout Lenoir, Greene, and Jones counties — and I’m grateful for every opportunity to stay connected with folks across our district. From honoring our veterans to celebrating new investments in public safety, jobs, and education, there’s a lot of good happening in Eastern North Carolina.
Thank you for the continued honor of representing you in the NC House. If my office can ever be of help to you or your family, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
At your service,
Chris Humphrey
State Representative
THANK YOU, VETERANS!
On November 11, we came together to honor those who answered the call to serve. Their courage, discipline, and sacrifice continue to inspire us all.
Thank you to all Veterans and their families for the sacrifices you have made and continue to make!
It was an honor to attend the Veterans Day ceremony in La Grange. Thank you to Engage L.A. for your hard work in making this special event possible.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MARINE CORPS!
For 250 years, the United States Marine Corps has stood as a symbol of American strength, sacrifice, and resolve. Across generations, Marines have answered the call to defend liberty at home and abroad. We honor their legacy, their service, and their unwavering dedication to our Republic.
NEW EMERGENCY SERVICES FACILITIES IN JONES COUNTY
We recently celebrated the opening of two vital emergency facilities in Jones County — a new EMS station in Pollocksville and a renovated Emergency Operations Center in Trenton.
Thanks to support from the NC General Assembly and the USDA, these investments will cut response times, expand 24/7 coverage, and ensure our first responders have the tools they need to protect lives across our rural communities.
These facilities will serve as the heartbeat of emergency response — from hurricanes and floods to any crisis that comes our way. This is where lives are protected through preparation, coordination, and teamwork.
GREENE COUNTY GOP'S SOUP & STEW SOCIAL
We had a wonderful time at the Greene County GOP’s Soup & Stew Social in Snow Hill. It was a packed house with great food and fellowship.
I’m grateful for the hard work of everyone who made the evening such a success. Events like this help strengthen engagement in Greene County and reinforce the work we’re doing to deliver results for our communities.
NORTH CAROLINA STATE LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE AT THE WHITE HOUSE
It was an honor to represent eastern North Carolina in Washington, D.C. for the State Leadership Conference at the White House.
We discussed key issues and new opportunities to help ensure the continued prosperity of our great state. I’m proud to be working toward a stronger future for every North Carolinian.
NC COMMUNITY COLLEGE SYSTEM PRESIDENT VISITS LENOIR COMMUNITY COLLEGE
We were delighted to welcome Dr. Jeff Cox, President of the North Carolina Community College System, to Lenoir Community College.
Dr. Cox's visit included a tour of the campus and an opportunity to see LCC's nursing, surgical technology, automotive, welding, esthetics, nail technology, and cosmetology programs.
Amazing things are happening at Lenoir Community College!
NC HOUSE PASSES BUDGET PAY PLAN
In October, the NC House unanimously passed our Budget Pay Plan — an investment in our state’s workforce:
8%+ raises for teachers — with the highest starting pay in the Southeast
13% average raises for local law enforcement
2.5% raises for state employees
COLA bonuses for retired public servants
Restored degree pay for teachers with advanced education
This plan delivers meaningful resources to those who serve and protect our state — and I’m proud to have supported it.
CHAMPIONING FREE ENTERPRISE POLICIES
I’m proud to have earned an 87% objective rating from NCFREE for my strong record of supporting free-market principles in the NC House.
Eastern North Carolina deserves leaders who will fight for lower taxes, fewer needless regulations, and economic freedom — and that’s exactly what I’ll keep delivering.
BIG JOBS NEWS FOR GREENE AND LENOIR COUNTIES
I’m excited to share that three major companies have announced over $33 million in investment and 154 new jobs for Lenoir and Greene counties!
Electrolux expanding in Kinston – 74 jobs
Cardon Rehabilitation bringing HQ to Kinston – 20 jobs
Judco Manufacturing moving HQ to Snow Hill – 60 jobs
These investments are proof that Eastern North Carolina is open for business and ready to lead in advanced manufacturing, healthcare tech, and auto supply. I’m proud of our skilled workforce, local leaders, and all who helped make this happen!
GROUNDBREAKING FOR NEW VOLUNTEER MAYSVILLE FIRE STATION
I was honored to attend the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Maysville Fire and EMS Station in Jones County.
This investment is a real advancement for public safety and community resilience in Eastern North Carolina. I'm grateful to our local officials, first responders, and everyone making this project possible.
