Lenoir Community College and Elizabeth City State University Sign Criminal Justice Transfer Agreement
By: Megan Wade
Lenoir Community College (LCC) and Elizabeth City State University (ECSU) have signed a bilateral agreement creating a seamless transfer pathway for graduates of LCC’s Associate in Applied Science in Criminal Justice Technology program to earn a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from ECSU.
Through this partnership, students who complete LCC’s two-year criminal justice degree can transfer directly into ECSU’s bachelor’s program, with the remaining coursework completed entirely online, if desired. The collaboration offers students flexibility and affordability while advancing their academic and career goals in law enforcement, corrections, and related fields.
ECSU is one of four NC Promise institutions, which means in-state students pay only $500 per semester in tuition—making a four-year degree more accessible and affordable than ever before.
“We are committed to supporting transfer students,” said Dr. Keith Hargrove, Chancellor of Elizabeth City State University. “The UNC System advocates access, opportunity, and affordability, all at the same time. Through partnerships like this one, we can help both traditional and adult learners earn a quality degree and make a lasting impact right here in our state.”
Dr. Terry Humphrey, Chair of Criminal Justice at Lenoir Community College, said the new agreement will open doors for students who want to continue their education close to home. “We are excited about this partnership with ECSU and the opportunities it provides to our students,” Dr. Humphrey said. “The ability to complete a bachelor’s degree online, at an affordable cost, makes higher education more attainable for those who want to advance in their careers while staying rooted in our community.”
The agreement underscores both institutions’ commitment to providing flexible and affordable pathways for North Carolinians seeking to further their education and serve their communities through criminal justice careers.
