KHS and Northeast experience brief lockdown
This morning, administrators with Lenoir County Public Schools were made aware of a report from a citizen in the community regarding concerns about seeing an individual walking near Old Snow Hill Road who was allegedly in possession of a firearm.
Out of an abundance of caution and based on the recommendation from the Kinston Police Department, the two schools closest to the area of reported concern, Northeast Elementary School and Kinston High School, were placed on lockdown for a period of less than 20 minutes until KPD recommended resuming normal school operations.
LCPS would like to thank the leadership and the entire team at KPD and all of our law enforcement partners for their strong proactive work to ensure the greatest possible level of safety for our students and staff members every day.
