Help wanted: Lenoir Community College - Dean of Business and Industry
Salary: $75,000 - $81,000 annually
The Dean of Business and Industry will provide direct support services to the faculty, staff, programs, and services within the Business and Industry Division under the direct supervision of the Vice President of Instruction & Institutional Effectiveness. This individual will plan, direct, and review the activities and operations of all curriculum programs in Business & Industry, and will also supervise all program offerings and other activities at the Aerospace and Advanced Manufacturing Center through leadership located on that site. The Dean will coordinate assigned activities with other college departments and outside agencies, and provide highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Vice President of Instruction & Institutional Effectiveness, ensuring strategic growth of programs in business and industry, and collaborating with Workforce Development to ensure offerings of blended and standalone continuing education courses of Business & Industry programs.
The duties of the Dean of Business and Industry include, but are not limited to:
ยท Supervise all Business & Industry programs through collaboration with program Chairs and other leadership within the division
ยท Supervise all program offerings and other activities at the Aerospace and Advanced Manufacturing Center through leadership located on that site
ยท Create and lead academic planning to provide quality educational programs within the division
ยท Supervise the growth and expansion of all curriculum modalities including synchronous and asynchronous learning
ยท Create a culture of innovation and input that encourages professional development and stakeholder input and provides opportunities for growth
ยท Develop new degree programs and options based on local and regional needs and the College's strategic plan in compliance with the requirements of the North Carolina administrative code, regional and national program and institutional accreditations
ยท Direct the development and administration of a cost-effective budget for assigned functions; direct the forecast of additional funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials and supplies; monitor and approve expenditures; and make midyear corrections
ยท Work collaboratively with vice presidents and members of the Presidentโs Council
ยท Work collaboratively with the Workforce Development and Continuing Education Division in the development of short-term training to meet the needs of the community and in blending curriculum and continuing education courses
ยท Create a culture that promotes the use of technology
ยท Advise the Vice President of Instruction & Institutional Effectiveness on matters of academic affairs and other college-wide issues
ยท Cultivate internal and external partnerships to develop new programs, garner resources, and serve students and the community
ยท Initiate joint programs with baccalaureate institutions
ยท Support program chairs in maintaining program accreditation
ยท Lead initiatives to expand offerings to high school students
ยท Collaborate with faculty, deans, and other administrators to meet the holistic needs of our students
ยท Provide leadership for activities and events that build community and serve students and staff
ยท Represent the College with external community partners (e.g., business, industry, and other higher educational institutions)
ยท Contribute to college/system-wide planning and resource development
ยท Be engaged in and support the work of the LCC College Foundation and other LCC events
Qualifications
ยท Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution is required; doctorate preferred
ยท Minimum 3 yearsโ experience in the development and administration of community college instructional programs or administrative departments
ยท Experience with instruction and/or administration of curriculum and workforce development programs
ยท Experience directly supervising full-time community college personnel and demonstrated ability to lead others and build strong teams
ยท Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills
ยท A record of community involvement and demonstrated ability to collaborate with business and industry partners
ยท Must have the ability to collect information, perform analysis, and recommend solutions
ยท Must possess a general knowledge of operation and organizational structures of a multi-campus community college environment; instructional standards, curriculum and accreditation requirements; computer software skills; file management and reporting systems; and initiating and successfully working with advisory groups and/or community agencies
ยท Demonstrate strong work ethic, business acumen, and a growth mindset

ยท Infrequent lifting and carrying items up to 25 lbs. without assistance
ยท Typical office environment
ยท Frequent travel between buildings on campus and travel to other campuses
ยท Frequent listening to and talking with students, faculty, and other staff members
ยท Frequent sitting at a desk or workstation using a telephone, computer, keyboard, and mouse
ยท Some travel may be required
