The following restaurant inspections were conducted by the Lenoir County Health Department:

Royal Farms

4206 W Vernon Avenue, Kinston

Date: 11/15

Score: 96

Observations:

Pans for cooked chicken were only being switched out once during a 7-8 hour shift.

Several flies present.

Several wet wiping cloths stores on drainboards, in sinks, etc.

3-comp sink is soiled.

3-comp sink sprayer hangs below flood rim.

Dumpster left open.

Water standing on floor around floor drain under prep sink.

Kam's Hibachi & Subs

Observations:

No certified food protection manager present.

No ready to eat foods were date marked.

Food storage containers need to be labeled with common name of food.

Many flies observed in kitchen.

Some shrimp and deli meat were stored by the back door upon arrival.

Effective hair restraints need to be worn.

Wet wiping cloth was left laying on sandwich prep board.

No test strips were available.

Additional cleaning needed on filters/hod, sink apron, prep tables, floors, walls, ceilings, towel dispensers, light fixtures, heat/ac vent covers, and floor under equipment.

Dumpster does not have a plug.

Several dishes stacked beside sink had a dirty residue/film that was sticky.

Chicken salad, salmon, and green beans are lacking date mark.

Chili left out on the counter to thaw.

Establishment has flies present.

Cell phone out on food prep table.

Plastic bad containing onions over shredded lettuce in prep top.

Establishment is using both drainboards for clean dishes.

Interior of reach in is dirty.

Built up grease is around the grill.

Outdoor dumpster doors left open.

Floors, walls, ceilings, and vents need additional cleaning.

LCC Culinary Arts

Observations:

No written procedures for vomit or diarrhea cleanup.

Sanitizer in buckets was too strong.

Head coverings and beard guards need to be used.

Shelving in walk in cooler observed to be soiled.

Counter mount can opener needs to be cleaned.

Both dumpsters are missing drain plugs.
