Arrest made in jail death

Update:

The investigation into Osowski’s death is still ongoing by the SBI.

Graham brought the drugs into the jail inside a body cavity.

The LCSO is trying to obtain funds to purchase a full body scan machine for the Lenoir County Jail, which may have helped in this incident.

Previous Article:

A Lenoir County Jail inmate has been charged in the death of a fellow inmate in a Jan. 20 incident at the detention center.

Following an investigation by the State Bureau of Investigation into the death of 40-year-old Stephanie Osowski on Jan. 20, Kristen Nicole Graham, 29, of Kinston, was charged with death by distribution. Graham was issued a secured bond on Thursday.

Lenoir County Sheriff Jackie Rogers requested the SBI investigate Osowski’s death when she was found deceased in her cell. Preliminary autopsy results are consistent with an overdose. Graham was charged after a consultation with the district attorney.

“While this is a tragic situation, it is good to have some resolution with this arrest,” Sheriff Rogers said. “I’d like to thank the SBI for their help and investigation into this matter. The thoughts and prayers of the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office go to the family of Ms. Osowski.”

No additional information is available at this time.
