Obituary: Norris Jenkins King

Norris Jenkins King passed away peacefully on Monday, January 15, 2024, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Norris was born May 4, 1937, in Jones County, North Carolina, to the late George and Jesse Jenkins. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Roger King, and a brother Earl Jenkins. She attended Jones Senior High School where she was valedictorian of her class. As a lover of learning, she taught English for 20 years and then began a second career as a real estate agent. Her bubbly personality and attention to detail allowed her to be successful in both endeavors. Always happy, she believed that you should find joy in everything you do and was often described as being full of life.

Norris was most proud of her family and especially the accomplishments of her grandchildren. She loved crossword puzzles, writing, and watching college basketball, tennis, and The Young and the Restless. She was frequently called upon to proofread essays and did so with excitement.

Left to cherish her memory are her son Keith King and wife Lesley of La Grange; grandchildren, Carey Jenkins King of La Grange and Mary George King of Raleigh, and sister Iris Weber; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Friday, January 19, 2024, at 6 pm, at Garner Funeral Home with Pastor Kim Holley officiating. A visitation will be held immediately following the funeral service.
