Kinston's New Hub: Artistry Salon Offers More Than Haircuts

A fresh and innovative business has sprung up in Kinston, offering an array of beauty and barber services for the community. The Artistry Beauty Salon and Barber Shop celebrated its grand opening four weeks ago, and owners Kierra Taylor Edmondson and Chanice Roberts have already seen significant community support.

Edmondson, a native of Kinston, and Roberts, originally from New York, first met at another barber shop three years ago. Combining Edmondson's skills as a stylist with Roberts' expertise as a barber, they opened Artistry with a clear vision in mind.

"This is our first business, so it's a Beauty and a Barbershop," Roberts said. "You can come in here and get different types of services, haircuts, facials, eyebrows, lace fronts, weaves, all of that type of stuff."

But Artistry is more than a place to get a haircut or a facial; it's also a hub for the community. The owners plan to host various themed days, like Mellow Mondays and Freestyle Fridays, to create a fun, inclusive environment.

"We're going to start events next week. It will be a good vibe in here and fun stuff for us to do as we do the haircuts," Edmondson explained.

The salon and barber shop plans to include events like 20/10 Tuesdays, where haircuts will be priced at $20 for adults and $10 for kids, and Wheeling Out Wednesday, where customers can spin a wheel for a chance at discounted prices.

"We're trying to cater to everybody, but the younger people, more so of them having a place to come in and be comfortable," Edmondson said, emphasizing their efforts to appeal to a wide clientele.

From the grand opening to today, Edmondson and Roberts have felt the support of the community.

“Thank you for supporting us,” said Roberts. “We've got a lot of support within a short amount of time," Roberts said, expressing gratitude for the community's embrace of their business.

The Artistry Beauty Salon and Barber Shop is located at 1612 N. Queen Street and operates Monday through Thursday from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Friday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and Saturday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. More information can be found on their website, www.artistry-ave.com.

With a blend of innovation, community focus, and a commitment to quality service, Artistry Beauty Salon and Barber Shop is poised to make a lasting impact in Kinston.
