Family Heritage inspired Oak Bridge Store & Grill opened on Neuse Road

Oak Bridge Store & Grill, is open at 3008 Neuse Road in Kinston, NC. The family-owned establishment is a labor of love for owners Ashley and Jake Ormond, who both have deep roots in the grocery and food industry.

Drawing inspiration from their family’s history in food service, the Ormonds have launched a venture that combines the heritage of Jake's granddaddy's Ormond’s Grocery Store by the airport with Ashley's experience in the food industry. “His history and my history,” Ashley Ormond explains, “We don't have anything out this way and this building sat here for years. We had the opportunity to get it and we jumped right in. Now our kids get to run around and have the same experience.”

Oak Bridge Store & Grill offers breakfast and lunch services with lunch running until 8 p.m. The store section of the business offers basic conveniences, including drinks, candy, snacks, and medicines. Though there's no gas available, the establishment aims to become a vital part of the local community.

The construction phase was challenging, as the building required significant updates and maintenance. “It’s a learning experience, every day we figure out something new, a better way of doing things, we are still learning,” Ormond stated.

Local businesses like Fat Baby’s Country Cooking and family members have provided support, advice, and even staffing. Ormond’s mother is one of the main cooks, and she expressed gratitude for the assistance received, emphasizing how much she appreciates the community.

Oak Bridge Store & Grill is open Monday through Saturday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. and closed on Sundays. Orders can be placed in advance at 252-520-3503 for quick pick-up.

"We appreciate the community, all of them. All of the community has helped us in some sort of way; they show up and provide their support. It's amazing. Even though we've been here since March, it feels crazy that this is happening."
