By Cailyn Kennedy

Lenoir Community College will bring Matilda The Musical to life on the Turner Stage. Matilda The Musical is based around a 5-year-old Matilda Wormwood, an intelligent little girl with the gift of telekinesis determined to overcome her hardships.

The show, directed by Lenoir Community College's Jessica Cruz, will occur on July 14 -16 and July 21 - 23 at LCC in the Briley Auditorium on the Turner Stage. This show is one of many that will be a part of the performing arts series at LCC. Tickets are available now at www.lenoircc.edu/matilda. Ticket prices are as follows, accessible seating: $15, orchestra seating: $20, standard seating: $1, and student standard seating (ages 3-17; 18+ student ID required): $10.

Kathryn Murphy will be a member of the Big Kid Ensemble and is a rising sixth grader at EB Frink Middle School. She has taken dance at Dance Etc. since she was 3 years old. Murphy was selected to participate in the Lenoir County Public Schools All-County Chorus two years in a row and was a member of Banks Rocks.

Also a part of the Big Kid Ensemble, Allison Manning is a junior at North Lenoir High School and has been in four productions. She is a member of the National Honor Society and has been dancing for 15 years. This is Allison's first production at LCC, and she is extremely excited to be a part of this cast.

Keith Parrish, member of the Adult Ensemble, has been performing on community theater stages in Goldsboro and Smithfield for 20 years and now brings his talent to LCC. He has portrayed many roles, including Rev. Parris in The Crucible, Mr. Potter in It's a Wonderful Life, Juror #10 in 12 Angry Jurors, and Ebenezer Scrooge in A Christmas Carol.

Caitlin Waters has taken choir and musical theatre classes since high school and cannot wait to bring those skills to the Turner Stage. She will use her previous dance and music knowledge to participate in Big Kid Ensemble for this show. She is genuinely excited to become part of the LCC drama family and bring the visions of this show to life.

Kassidy Loftin will be a part of the Big Kid Ensemble. She is a rising junior at South Lenoir High School and has been taking dance at Mooves Dance Studio for eight years. This is the first show she has participated in at LCC. She is a Christian who attends Rivermont Baptist Church. She loves to dance, her favorite style of dance is lyrical, and she loves to hang out with her friends and family.
