The Town of Dover is seeking a part-time Town Clerk/Assistant Finance Officer.

Responsibilities include: performing all duties of Town Clerk as required by NC General Statutes (details at https://www.sog.unc.edu/sites/default/files/course_materials/4%20Roles%20and%20Responsibilities%20Mayor%20Council-Upshaw%20NCGS.pdf) and Town Charter; providing administrative assistance to the Mayor, Board of Commissioners, and Finance Officer; serving as custodian of all official town records, documents, and contracts; assisting the Finance Officer with the overall financial management functions of the town, including general accounting, payroll, accounts receivable and payable, revenue collections, and assistance with the annual audit; producing various quarterly, semi-annual, and annual reports. Work is performed under the supervision of the Mayor, Board of Commissioners, and Finance Officer. The position requires superior organizational and writing skills, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with citizens, staff, and elected officials.

Experience with QuickBooks or similar software is required.

An Associate's degree from an accredited community college with major coursework in business administration, accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.

The candidate should be actively commissioned as a NC Notary Public or be able to obtain a commission within one (1) year of hiring. They must be able to be bonded and possess a valid NC driver's license.

Salary is dependent on qualifications. Minimum compensation is $15.00 per hour. The candidate will work 20-25 hours per week, with the opportunity for flexibility in scheduling.
